Martin Goldberg argues that the conservative movement suffers from ideological inconsistencies: 1）Economic libertarianism vs. social conservatism:  Free-market and unregulated capitalism often erode family structures and local communities; 2) Globalism vs. nationalism: Globalization has led to economic displacement, factory closures and declining wages; 3) Neoconservatism vs. Non-Interventionism: Neoconservatives argue for military engagement abroad while Non-Interventionism sees these wars betrayal of national interests; 4) Corporate conservatism vs. populism: The GOP establishment historically supports big business, tax cuts for the wealthy, while working-class conservatives increasingly oppose corporate influence. Goldberg suggests a shift toward a more populist, nationalist, and culturally engaged conservative movement that is less dependent on corporate elites and more aligned with working-class interests.
